[Ardmore, OK | Oct 29-30, 2022] In a tightly contested competition, Team OJGT fended off Team TJGT late in the day to take back the Red River Cup at the 2022 Red River Challenge, played at famed Dornick Hills CC in Ardmore, OK.
After a tightly-contested day 1, the teams stood tied at 10.5 points each halfway through the final round, but a few of the OJGT boys teams secured crucial points late in the round to seal the victory for Team Oklahoma, winning by a final 17.5 – 12.5.
In the individual portion of the competition, Team OK dominated the top of the boys leaderboard, while Team TX dominated the girls side. In the girls division, Dallas’s Adrienne Ahn secured a 2-shot victory by firing a 1-over-par final round that included 4 birdies. She finished ahead of fellow TJGT teammates Darcy Wright, who took second, and Kinslea Jones, who took third.
In the boys division, Oklahoma’s Preston Albee and Ryder Cowan finished tied at the top at 2-under-par, and Albee won the sudden death playoff with a birdie on the second hole. Rounding out the top 5 in the boys division were Rhett Hughes (OK), Grant Gudgel (OK), Parker Sands (OK) and Jaxon Bandelier (TX).
