Testimonials

"The TJGT staffs of parents and former college coaches are by far the best informed and equipped to counsel Elite Mini Tour parents on navigating elite junior golf. Their experience with their own kids thru all the various levels of Jr. Golf is amazing. Whether it is US Kids, PGA sections, High School Golf & AJGA, you name it, they have done it. You will learn more in 30 mins talking with one of the TJGT staff than hours on the internet or a golf professional that has never had a child go thru the system.  As a mother of two collegiate golfers who are at major Division One NCAA programs (SEC, Big Ten), I can assure you the Elite Mini Tour is the only place to play for the younger age children.  The professionalism and experience the TJGT possesses is second to none.  Finally, as an AJGA tournament chairman, Mr. Jones and his staff are the most informed and knowledgeable of any junior golf organization in the USA when it comes to explaining and navigating the AJGA system. Listen to what they say because their kids have had great success at every level."

"The TJGT Tour is a blast. We play great golf courses, you get great college exposure from a lot of great schools and coaches. The tour is one of the most competitive tours I have ever played on because you have all of the best players from the around the country and other countries around the world. Most of all though it is a very well runned organization. They just flat out treat you right. I’m proud to say I play the TGJT Tour."

"As a parent, I recommend the TJGT for all junior golfers that have the desire to play on the college level.  My son Travis gained valuable experience by playing in these tournaments.  The courses were challenging, and the field was extremely competitive.  This experience helped prepare him for the next step in his golf career at UT-Tyler."

"The TJGT has been extremely helpful in the development of my sons golf game.  As a rule, our goal when evaluating tournaments was to find the most competitive field possible.  In other words where are the best players playing.  The TJGT combines affordability, quality golf courses, AJGA affiliation and exemptions, the best competition in Texas and a great golf experience for parents and juniors."

Tim Kelly

"I am not your ideal candidate to give a testimonial as my child probably does not have the talent to play college golf but, you know, it really doesn’t matter to me. What does matter to me is that he has that dream of playing college golf and I love the fact that he is working to make his dream happen. TJGT provides the perfect opportunity for him to play competitive golf year round. You run a very professional operation and you have great kids competing in your tournaments (the kind of kids that I like my son to be around). It’s the perfect combination. My child is learning that you have to work to achieve your goals and he may also learn that in spite of your best efforts, all goals aren’t reached. But he should also realize that the journey to achieve those goals and the friendships he makes along the way are the greatest reward. Thank you for providing him that opportunity."

"TJGT has been a turning point for my son, Cameron Hollek. Before this fall, my son was a select baseball player and played onlly in local and high school golf tournaments. TJGT has provided him both very completive regional competition and well as very challenging golf courses all over Texas. Cameron has had to learn how to maintain his game even when multiple college coaches were present. Cameron finished the TJGT as an All-Tour player and can testify that TJGT really does “prepare you for national competition!” Keep up the great work."

"Every golfer needs to have an outlet that allows them to compete in a way that will help prepare them for their future endeavors, namely collegiate golf.  The TJGT was my outlet.  It allowed me to compete against THE BEST competition that the state of Texas and surrounding regions had to offer on a weekly basis.  It gave me something that college coaches would instantly respect on a resume, and made me as ready as I possibly could be to take the next step in my career as a golfer.  The TJGT was the perfect step for me in between high school and collegiate level golf."

Daniel Wood

"Having experience on both the playing side and working side of the TJGT, I have found them to be the most experienced and professional of all winter junior golf tournaments.  The preparations they give you for college golf are second to none.  The lessons you learn such as being on time and courteous to others actually carries on into the business world."

"As you may know this will be my last year as a junior, which sadly ends my involvement with the TJGT. I’ve had a great time competing for the past 3 years, and I owe yourself, Coach Monzingo, all your staff and of course Tony Espinosa, a tremendous amount for opening up the opportunities that I have been presented with. With the limited exposure players receive here in Europe, I am doubtful if I would be heading to college stateside at all without the help of the TJGT and your staff.

"I’ve been lucky to have played at some fantastic venues, and the competition has always been strong. I know a lot of the kids compete primarily for experience and development, but it has never been easy for me and the nine or so events that I competed in have all been very worthwhile tests of golf.
There is no question that the experience I’ve gained whilst playing on your tour will prepare me very well for the next stage of my career at ASU. It is clear that the standard on the tour has been steadily increasing over the years, and I fully expect to see many TJGT alumni playing NCAA and professional golf in the not too distant future.  I’ve obviously come to know a lot of players and parents during my visits to Texas, and it’s a tribute to the TJGT to be able to report that everyone has been extremely welcoming and friendly, and not once have I felt like an outsider. It was refreshing to see so many players enjoy themselves on the course and shrug off bad results so easily. I’m pretty sure this is connected to the policies you set in place regarding behavior and conduct, and as a result you are doing a lot of kids the world of good by encouraging them to play with good attitudes and demeanor.

"Please pass my best regards to Lisa, Josh, Mr. Davenport and all your staff. I wish you and the tour continued success for the future, and perhaps we will cross paths again over the next few years."

"This is Jeff Rein down here in San Antonio.  I just wanted to write and tell you that your tour did a lot for me this winter.  It gave me experience of playing with great players and playing in all different weather conditions.  The experience that i received from the TJGT was awesome and i will definitely take it to Texas Lutheran next year."

"Will has participated in a couple of the TJGT events and they have been extremely well run.  We have used them to keep his tournament skills sharp during some of the slower times of the year.  These events have allowed him to continue to learn the important lesions about competitive golf that can only be learned by playing tournament golf and not on the driving range.  I cannot emphasize enough how important playing competitive golf is the continued development of our junior players.  Additionally, having just gone through the whole college process, I can tell you that college coaches want to see these kids competing at all levels.  Therefore, I think we should all thank the TJGT tour for providing us an avenue that allows our kids to be recognized and grow both as people and as golfers. "

"Playing in the TJGT helped me in a lot of ways, such as exposure for college golf, improving my game and meeting new people. I had a great time and it opened a lot of doors for me! I highly recommend it.  Thanks!!!"

"We just wanted to express how impressed we were with our first TJGT tournament experience. Our two sons (Connor and Hunter) competed in the Regional High School Preview at Cottonwood Creek this past weekend and it would be hard to identify one area of improvement. From the moment we arrived it was evident that this is a well oiled machine and that we found a high quality junior tour right here in our backyard!

"Thanks and appreciation goes out to the entire tournament staff for a job well done! "

"I think the TJGT made history this weekend! The first round of the Capital City Classic finished the round in 4 hours and 15 mins! Hats off to Coach Pool and his crew for a nice job. I had a chance to meet some really nice coaches. They did a wonderful job. "

"We have had the good fortune of hosting several high profile events here at The Houstonian Golf & Country Club. I can say with conviction the staff of the TJGT is dedicated to the success of the tournament from long before the first shot is hit to well after the awards have been distributed. They truly care about the well being of the participants, their parents, and they are very respectfully of those involved with the host club."

"Mr. Jones, thank you so much for your kind words in your recommendation to Coach Higgins about me.  Not sure if you heard or not, but A&M offered and I committed last night.  I am so excited about becoming an Aggie!  I can’t thank you and the TJGT for the opportunities you have given me to showcase my game on some amazing golf courses. I’m looking forward to playing at the Traditions tournament in December.  Thank you again for everything.  My parents and I really appreciate all your help. "

"Just wanted to let you know how impressed we have been w/ the TJGT.  The staff is great and always informative, helpful & friendly to players/parents.  Each tournament has been so consistently organized and well run.  It has been well worth the drive for us.  Many thanks to you and your staff. "Great video….doing these kind of things is what makes the TJGT simply the best!! you guys take it to the next level!!
You can use anything I got baby LOLOL that will be just fine. I really meant it…you guys do the little things that separate you from all the rest of the tours. If you have a junior golfer that is serious about golf… The TJGT tour is the place to play.

"Thanks again for all you do for the junior golfers."

"Just wanted to thank you and all the staff and coaches and webmaster for a great job.  The website looks great and is up to date and full of useful information.  The new TJGT t-shirts are awesome and work well for both boys and girls.  The tournaments have been well run and the last two we have been at have been especially well run and great courses (Raven Nest and High Meadow Ranch).  Our whole family is enjoying this first year experience and making new friends along the way.  The kids that are playing are really terrific and we are enjoying getting to know them.

"Thanks again, and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!"

Best Regards,

Lynne Haddow

"I want to thank you again for the great experience we have had as members of the TJGT. The TJGT has done a great job of promoting sanctioned, ranked golfweek events allowing the junior players to gain AJGA exemptions. The staff of the High School coaches that assist in running these events do a superb job. The photographer, Mrs. Becky, is always out rain or shine capturing the action. The talks by college coaches after the banquets have been helpful and informative.Mr. Dave Jones and his staff keep everything running smoothly. Our daughter, Heather Lott has played in many different junior golf tours but TJGT has always exceeded our expectations. We look forward for one more year of competition on this great tour. "

"Cameron won the Region III - 3A Golf regional medalist championship with rounds of 72 & 75 at Ravens Nest Golf Club in Huntsville, Texas April 22 & 23. Cameron will play as a medalist at the UIL State Tournament at Roy Kizer Golf Course, May 8 & 9 in Austin, Texas.  All the TJGT tournaments Cameron’s played in was a huge help for Cameron coming down the stretch the last day. Playing the TJGT has helped Cameron play much better these days under pressure.

"I just wanted to let you know how Cameron did in regional’s..Our regional is very tough these days with Waco Robertson, Gatesville, Palestine and Hardin Jefferson.

"When Cameron finished and won the tournament he was in tears!!!! Thanks TJGT..It makes all the players much better!"

Buddy

" I just wanted to say thank you for everything this past weekend.  It was a very well set up and organized tournament.  You did a great job of getting us off the course on Saturday before the bad weather really hit, and did a great job of explaining to the players how it was going to be handled.
Thanks for everything that you do for the kids!!!!!  I know that PJ had a very good time!!!!!"

" Mr. Jones, I want to thank you and your staff for all of the hard work that has been
put into the TJGT. As a member of the tour for four years I cannot count the
memories or the lessons learned from playing the tour. As the TJGT was the
majority of my tournaments the competition really prepared me for college
golf, as I made the team for the first two tournaments at McMurry
University. The quality of tournaments that you over the years have been
able to make possible in Texas could not have prepared me better. From
playing the tour, I entered college knowing what to expect because so many
of the golfers on the TJGT are moving on to play college golf somewhere and
being able to play against the kids going to the Big D-I schools even only
as seniors in high school teaches you so much about your game and how to
handle the pressure of playing with people that are better than you. The
tour brought out the best in me. I know that ever week you would show up at
a tournament the best of your golf game was needed to compete for one of the
top spots.  The quality of places played and the quality of fields was
incredible and those combined bring forth numerous possibilities for a
broader range of schools to choose from while contemplating what college to
attend. I cannot thank you and everybody associated with the tour enough for
all the possibilities that you gave me to achieve my dream of playing
college golf."

"My son David played Split Rail two weeks ago as his first TJGT event.  He
has played NTPGA for past six, seven years.  I regret not participating
earlier on your circuit.  I am pretty impressed with everything and must
compliment you on the professional approach to the game and the support of
your assistants.  Class act all the way around."

Mr. Cameron

"Colin has signed a National Letter of Intent and has accepted a scholarship to play golf for Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas next year. Karen, Colin and I would like to thank you, your family and the entire staff of the Texas Junior Golf Tour for helping him pursue his dream of playing golf in college. Colin has had several opportunities to play golf at various colleges throughout the country but this seemed to be the best fit for him at this time because he should be able to play immediately in the fall. I know for a fact that he would not have been successful moving on to playing
college golf without the experience and exposure he has gained competing in the TJGT."

Shaun Buckley

"Thanks again for another great tournament.  Great venue, great field, great weather.  Please extend my thanks to your top-notch team as well.  Your team works hard to make sure the tournaments run smoothly and they are typically a step ahead of what is going on around the course.  And the entire TJGT staff go the extra mile to make the parents and players feel welcome.  That clearly comes through. "
Scott Boydston

"I want to personally thank you and all of your hard-working staff
for the opportunities that you provide.  Stephanie is extremely
interested i making Golf her career in one way or another and you have
provided a jump-start to That end.  She has accepted a (4) year FULL
RIDE scholarship at West Texas A&M University and is there as I write
this to begin classes and practice for the golf team.  WTAMU is a NCAA
Div 2 school that made it to the National Championship last year and
finished 9Th. Stephanie and Lee Ann and I want to make sure that you know that
yet one more player on your tour has benefited from the competitive
venues that you provide.  She will never forget you folks!  Her first
tournament is on September 14th and 15th right here in Dallas, then on
to Florida to play at TPC Sawgrass. I had a lot of fun watching her progress while playing in your
tournaments.  they were always the Best organized events that she
played in.  Congrats to you all!"

"I wanted to express how truly grateful I am for all the hard work put in for every tournament.  Without the dedication towards the success of junior golfers, I know from a personal experience reaching the next level would pose as a larger hurdle.  I can only hope this simple letter can shed a little amount of light on the enormous amount respect I have for the TJGT and the staff.  This is end of my TJGT career, and I felt it would not be right to walk away not expressing my gratitude. I hope one day I will be able to give back the tour. Thank you again."
Katelyn Sepmoree, 2009 University of Texas Signee

"I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful job all of you did on the TJGT Tournament.(2009 Baylor Invitational).  I don’t know how you stayed so organized, but the tournament was great. The dinner was delicious, and the guest speaker was terrific.  Even in all the rain, the TJGT shined!!!! You and your staff are awesome! All the goodies that our son received were wonderful...the golf shirt, the book, the cool t-shirt, and the nike bag. Your wife does an excellent job taking care of ordering everything. We just wanted you to know just what a wonderful tournament you and your staff put on.  Thank you for all you do.

By the way, both my husband and I were at the Valero Texas Junior open, which was an AJGA Tournament.  Our son Zach has never played in an AJGA Open Tournament before so we were expecting something spectacular especially after being a part of the TJGT tournaments and seeing how wonderful they are.  The AJGA Tournament was very nice and well run, but it did not hold a candle to how well run the TJGT tournaments are.  You and your husband do an outstanding job with the TJGT and we were far more impressed with TJGT.  Anyway, we wanted you both to know how impressed we are with the TJGT tournaments and just how much we have loved being a part of such a wonderful organization and staff.

"This year completed my last year of involvement with TJGT and I must admit that I am sad.  We have grown with TJGT and have watched it grow in a positive direction. We started with TJGT when Willie put this program together as a fall venue for his daughter and other to play in the off season and continued for over 10 years to see it become the program that it is today under the direction of Dave Jones and Coach Monzingo.  My son Larry McDougal Jr. played TJGT through high school and this gave him the exposure to play college golf.  TJGT was the only tournament field that college coaches were visiting in Texas at that time.  If not for TJGT, I doubt that he would have been noticed and afforded the opportunity to play college golf. Other than individual tournaments like the T.O. and TexAce, there were no large, strong fields for the kids to play in the 90s.  Today, when I look at the Adams Golf Tour and other lower lever professional tours, I frequently recognize many of the players from TJGT events.  My son and I made many friends through the TJGT that still exist today and for that I am very grateful.  After college he chose to seek a doctorate degree in lieu of playing golf, which he completed this past May.  Then my daughter Katelyn started in the TJGT in 2006.  As a result of the efforts of the TJGT and the help of people like Coach Chad Hanley and other members of the TJGT Staff my daughter had several college scholarship offers and accepted a full ride scholarship to play D1 college golf.  In fact my daughter’s Assistant Coach at Lamar University is a former TJGT player.  Without the opportunities provided her by the TJGT, I doubt that her game would have reached the level it did and she would have never came to the attention of as many college golf programs as she did.  Again we are thankful to the TJGT for all the friends that both she and I have made through your program.  I cannot say enough good things about the TJGT, the Staff and everything you do for the players.  You really do care about the kids and this program truly is the “Road To College Golf.” "

"
Congrats on a well done pod cast with Asher and GolfWeek!  You continue to be a top leader in junior golf and have taken this tour to an incredible place.  Anthony and I still talk about those wonderful TJGT events across the state of Texas that he started to play in at age 13 – he would not be the golfer he is today without the TJGT or your support over the years."
