With several college coaches in attendance, Kevin VandenHeuvel, Houston, TX, 2009 shot a final round 7-under 65 which included 6 birdies on the front nine to light up the Houstonian Golf & CC and take the title by one shot over Brax McCarthy, Fort Worth, TX, 2010 who shot 69-70 for a two-day total of 139.
Vandenheuvel sat four shots back after his opening 73. The remainder of the top five looked like this:

GIRLS 12-18
Lakareber Abe, Angleton, TX, 2014 shot 81-74-155 and then found herself in a playoff with Christina Cantu, Houston, TX, 2010 who posted scores of 80-75-155. Abe outlasted Cantu and walked away with the title despite being one of the youngest females in the event. First round leader Ryanne Haddow, Sugar Land, TX, 2010 followed her opening 75 with an 82 and took solo third. Katy Cardno, Sugar Land, TX, 2009 knocked ten shots off of her first round 84 with a 74 to finish at 158 and fourth place one shot clear of Lauren Quirch, Missouri city, TX, 2010 who shot 78-81-159.
With this being a Golfweek-ranked event all players competed in one age group but special recognition goes out to Tyler Thomas, Beaumont, Tx, 2011 74-76-150, Andrew Rostek, Sugar Land, TX, 2011 74-77-151, and Dylan Siebenaler, Sugar Land, TX, 2013 81-74-155 as the top 12-15 Boys finishers and to Alejandra White, Tampico, Mexico 2012 84-79-163 and Daniela Fuentes, The Woodlands, TX, 2012 86-82-168 as the top 12-15 Girls finishers next to Abe.
