TWO GREAT EVENTS ON THREE INCREDIBLE COURSES!
Two great events on three incredible courses. With this being the last week of summer break before most players head back to school it was a great opportunity to take advantage of the high level of competition on challenging courses before gearing up for high school golf. The TGJT had two events going on, The TJGT Gleneagles Country Club Junior Championship in Dallas and The TJGT Slick Rock-Escondido Championship down near Austin. The TJGT would also like to say good luck to all of the junior golfers trying out for their high school team in the upcoming weeks.
First up the TJGT Gleneagles Country Club Junior Championship was played at Gleneagles Country Club on The Kings Course August 16th -17th 2010. Coaches from UNT and SMC came out to watch players tee it up in extremely hot conditions in the 36-hole Nationally-ranked event. The Boys 16-18 played 6,722 yards; the Boys 12-15 played 6,303 yards; and all Girls 12-18 played 5,830 yards.
The course was in great shape at Gleneagles CC the site of numerous USGA, PGA and AJGA events in the past. The kids enjoyed the event and were fed lunch at the turn both days.

The TJGT Slick Rock-Escondido Championship was played at the Horseshoe Bay Resort in Austin, Texas. This is one of the most scenic and family-friendly resorts in the state of Texas. The heat prevailed as well in the Texas Hill Country but the players handled it well. The Boys 16-18 played 6,835 yards; the Boys 12-15 played 6,354 yards; and all Girls 12-18 played 5,678 yards in the 36-hole Nationally-ranked event. The players showed up ready to play and there were several rounds in the 70s. An interesting note is that this is one of the few events all season that did not have a single play off.
