TJGT/The Gateway Tour form exclusive agreement
The TJGT ( Texas Jr. Golf Tour) and The Gateway Tour, a leading professional mini-tour have entered an exclusive agreement to provide TJGT graduating seniors and collegiate alumni to participate in Gateway Tour events. This opportunity gives TJGT players moving on to collegiate and amateur play a tremendous opportunity to experience a professional golf tournament environment and experience the real challenge of playing professional golf. Furthermore, collegiate players from around the country and former TJGT players can reduce their summer travel expenses and continue to play in a highly competitive environment. The Gateway Tour has awarded tournament exemptions to TJGT invitational winners & runner up as well as key TJGT I Alliance partners such as Starburst Jr. Classic, Texas Oklahoma, Houston Golf Association & others.
TJGT President Dave Jones stated, “ This is an incredible opportunity for all our TJGT alumni playing college golf and graduating seniors each year. Additionally, our invitational events with Gateway tour exemptions along with amateur exemptions and AJGA PBE will attract stronger fields and that always benefits the players. College coaches want juniors to play in strong, competitive fields and venues that host collegiate events. Finally, the opportunity to play a professional event will truly give players a realistic view of how challenging it can be to make the PGA Tour. This will also allow families & players to reduce their travel expenses for summer amateur play during a difficult financial environment. We look forward to the partnership with The Gateway Tour.”
Gateway Tour Executive Director Charlie Yandell stated, “ We welcome the TJGT and are excited to open up this opportunity for current and college bound players. We believe the TJGT is a premier tour and has a track record of providing quality, competitive events that challenge players for the next level. We are happy to extend playing opportunities without a membership fee so create value for these players. Our DFW tournament director, Mr. Matt Brost, a former University of Texas standout collegiate player will oversee this agreement and look to further expand the playing opportunities for collegiate player division on the The Gateway Tour.
