Junior Tours Merge To Provide More Opportunities for Players Seeking National Exposure
July 29, 2008
The Texas Junior Golf Tour and Mr. Robert Valero, Executive Director of the Texas Junior Masters, Junior Links Open, Texas/Mexico Cup & the Junior Mini Tour are excited to announce a merger to provide more opportunities for juniors golfers across the Texas and surrounding states.
Mr. Valero states, “ After careful evaluation of the various junior tours, the TJGT continues to set itself apart from all the others, second only to the AJGA. Its vision of providing national exposure and educating parents & players on elite junior golf is second to none. Their leadership consists of individuals who have experienced for themselves every level of junior golf and collegiate golf, as well as coaching experience at the high school & collegiate level. I feel the TJGT brings the best opportunity and overall value for all the players and parents. Their relationship with Nike, Golfweek, Junior Golf Scoreboard, high school golf coaches and the AJGA cannot be matched. I am excited about handing over some great events into their care.”

FAMILIARITY BREEDS SUCCESS AT THE BRITISH LINKS CHALLENGE
July 22, 2008
The hottest day of the year turned out to be a scorcher on the golf course. The entire field must have been taking notes on Monday because on Tuesday we saw some lights out golf. An incredible 19 players shot under-par on Tuesday with another 8 shooting even-par. Just another reason why the TJGT can make the claim “Come Play With the Best!”
The 16-18 Boys saw the most players in red numbers in the second round with 15…

THE TEMPERATURE WAS HOT, BUT DUBAY WAS HOTTER!
July 21, 2008
In the first round of the 36-hole nationally-ranked British Links Challenge being played at the Tribute GC in the Colony, in 100+ degree weather, Tyler DuBay (Frisco, TX 2009) scorched the course “DuBay style” firing a 7-under 65 that included 8 birdies, five on the front and three on the back side. DuBay certainly favored the odd-numbered holes on the front with birdies on 1,3,5,7, and 9, and even-numbers on the back with birdies on 10,12, and 14. When the smoke cleared he had a five-shot lead in the Boys 16-18 over Jeff Hageman (Grapevine, TX 2009) and Chris Leasor (Mansfield, TX 2010) who both shot respectable 2-under 70’s. Elliot Thompson (Frisco, TX 2009) and Corbin Light (Plano, TX 2008) round out the red-numbers crew posting 1-under par 71’s.

LIGHTNING, A HOLE-IN-ONE, AND A DOUBLE-EAGLE…COWBOYS GOLF CLUB JUNIOR GOLF CLASSIC
July 16, 2008
We had all three during the final round of the Cowboys Golf Club Jr. Classic, which should come as no surprise to anyone not even the several college coaches in attendance. One Big VII women’s coach had this to say, “They may have only gotten in twelve holes but the quality of play I saw rivals that of any junior tour I’ve seen even on a national level.”
Big time congratulations to Samantha Long of Southlake who aced the par-3 #6 and to Roger Vezina who holed a 3-iron from 240 out to make a double-eagle on the par-5 #13.
