Another busy weekend on the TJGT with three big tour events and one mini-tour event spread out across the great state of Texas.
First up, the TJGT Tangle Ridge Junior Challenge was played at the beautiful Tangle Ridge Golf Course near Joe Pool lake in Grand Prairie, Texas on September 26-27 2009 with the Boys 16-18 playing 6,835 yards; the Boys 12-15 playing 6,455 yards; and all Girls 12-18 playing 5,787 yards in this 36-hole, nationally-ranked event. It was a great weekend for golf that saw the titles in all four divisions decided by three shots or less. This level of competition cannot be found anywhere else in competitive junior golf. Congratulations to Phillip Rosengarden on claiming the title in the Boys 16-18 division.

Next up is the TJGT Live Oak Junior Championship which was played at the Live Oak Golf Course September 26-27, 2009 with the Boys 16-18 playing 6,847 yards; the Boys 12-15 playing 6,418 yards; and all Girls played 5,728 yards in 36-hole nationally-ranked event.
Day 1 saw the tournament get underway with perfect conditions; warm with a slight breeze. There were many scores in the 70’s while Andrew Liu and Wehman Hopke were the lone two under par rounds at 70 and 71 respectively. The honors of the day go to Marko Lloyd of New Braunfels who had his first Hole-in-One ever on the par 3 number 17. Marko, hit a 6 iron on the uphill 165 yard hole for the ace. Day 2 was perfect as the temperatures held in the mid 90’s and breezy.
Boys 16-18 - Eddie DeVane defeated Dylan Ellett on the first playoff hole to capture 2nd place this week. Boys 12-15 – William Martinez defeated Andrew Liu on the second playoff hole to win 2nd place. Girls 16-18 – Haley Haught defeated Lexie Hall on the second playoff hole to capture the title.

The TJGT TJGT Cypresswood Junior Championship was played at Cypresswood Golf Club on the Cypress Course September 26-27 2009 with the Boys 16-18 playing 6,906 yards; the boys 12-15 playing 6,238 yards; and all Girls playing 5,714 yards in this 36-hole nationally ranked event. The weather was absolutely perfect both days.
Scott Terrell led the way after the first round with a birdie filled 3 under par. He was unable to fend off the 2nd round charge of Cash Wilkerson and Cory Steinmann who eventually decided 1st place with a playoff at 145. Scott Terrell finished in 3rd place by making a 15 footer for par on the 1st playoff hole to continue and a 12 foot putt on the 2nd playoff hole to defeat Luke Sheehan.
In the boys 12-15 division. Austin DeGrate fired a sizzling 1 under par total to win by 2 shots over Carte Patterson.
Bernice Leonard fired a 2nd round 76 to cruise to a 6 shot victory. Cheyenne Knight enjoyed a second place finish in her very first TJGT event.
Katelyn McDougal outlasted Kirby Kramer to take the overall Girls title by 1 shot.

* Girls 12-15 Taylor Sloane and Aliece Anderson competed for 3rd place in the girls 16-18 division. The playoff commenced on hole #1 with Ms. Sloane Eventually claiming 3rd place on the 1st playoff hole with a nice par.
Cash Wilkerson defeated Corey Steinmann on the 1st playoff hole to claim the boys 16-18 title.
Cody Hebert and Andrew Ertel battled it for 1 hole with Ertel eventually coming out with 3rd place honors.
