The TJGT was busy at it again with two events on two great courses.
First up the TJGT Houston Regional Preview was played at Eagle Pointe Golf Club October 17-18 2009 in absolutely perfect weather. The Boys 16-18 played 6,851 yards; the Boys 12-15 played 6,440 yards; and all Girls 12-18 played 5,454 yards in this 36-hole, nationally-ranked event.
Blue skies everywhere. Perfect weather left many spectators running for long sleeves and jackets as temperatures dropped 15 degrees from mid week to week end. The cooler Houston air did not stop some of the kids from heating things up a bit on the course though.
Corey Steinmann continued his solid play this fall with a 2 shot victory over Ryan Roseberry to capture the Boys 16-18 title.
Andrew Winters took the Boys 12-15 title with a pair of nice 74’s on the way to a 7 stroke win.
Bernice Leonard continued her fine play with a smile in the girls 12-15 division with a couple of nice rounds for a 2 day 167.
Abbie Driggers kicked off her TJGT career with a win in the girls 16-18 division.
Lots of great play, lots of great shots on the region 3 boys and girls site.
Congrats to Zachary Zahn for making a hole-in-one on the par 3 #12 and to Abby Newton for holing out for eagle from the fairway on #6 on day two.

Next up we have The Walnut Creek Junior Championship was played at Walnut Creek Country Club on the Pecan Course October 17-18, 2009, in near ideal weather conditions-sunny and 70 on day one and a bit cooler and breezy on day two.
The Boys 16-18 played 6,615 yards; the Boys 12-15 played 6,328 yards; and all Girls 12-18 played 5,387 yards in this 36-hole Golfweek-ranked event.
Players from Texas and Colorado teed it up on this classic course that was very challenging but fair. In an exciting finish in the girls 16-18 Kirsten Pike defeated Michelle Chen on the 1st play off hole with a par.
