The weather may be getting a little chilly but things are still heating up on the TJGT. This weekend it was a TJGT double-play weekend.
First up the Stars of Texas Shootout was played November 21st-22nd 2009 at the Star Ranch Golf Course in Hutto, Texas. The Boys 16-18 played 7,017 yards; the Boys 12-15 played 6,341 yards; and all 12-18 Girls played 5,678 yards in this 36-hole nationally-ranked event.
Saturday was cold and wet as the course played extremely long with all the rain in recent months. Sunday got off to a cold and wet start again as we battled through some early morning fog; however the fog burned off and the sun broke through warming the conditions slightly making it a great day for golf. Overall the golf course was in excellent shape.
On the course Teejay Shanks of Texarkana, Texas won a playoff for the boys 16-18 division Championship with a par on the 3rd playoff hole over Kyle Johnson of Houston. In the boys 12-15 division Andrew Scamardo of College Station captured 3rd Place with a victory on the second playoff hole over Andrew Minton of Houston Texas.

Next up the TJGT Bridlewood Junior Championship was played at the beautiful Bridelwood Golf Course in Flower Mound, Texas. Although temperature-wise it was a great weekend for golf with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s, the course was very wet on Saturday and Sunday got a little bit better. Bridlewood had perfect bent grass greens.
Players from three states (Texas, Arkansas, and Pennsylvania) teed it up in this 36-hole nationally-ranked event. UNT Mens head coach Brad Stracke was in attendance scouting all of the out of state talent and he saw the entire field finish the first round in under four hours.
Special shout out to 6th grader Courtney Dow (2016) who played in her first TJGT event shooting 84-82 finishing 2nd in the girls 12-15.
In the boys 16-18 Jeremy Legquen, recent signee to Midwestern State and current number one player at Flower Mound Marcus shot 71-67 to take the top spot.
Not to be outdone Rachel Mulkey, being heavily recruited after multiple TJGT Invitational wins (OU, Red River and now Bridlewood), fired a 66-75 to walk away with the title in the girls 16-18.
Suprisingly enough there was only a single playoff and that was won by Michelle Chen won the only playoff edging Grace Choi for 3rd in the girls 16-18.
It was another great weekend on the TJGT and on behalf of the entire TJGT staff we would like to wish you and your family and very safe and happy Thanksgiving.
