The final match of the 2011 US Amateur Championship featured two former TJGT players, Kelly Kraft of Denton Texas and his caddy Boston Britain, and was won by Kraft after he defeated the #2 ranked amateur in the world, Patrick Cantlay, 2-up. Kelly graduated in 2008 and finished his college career at SMU. Kelly finished a stellar collegiate career at SMU earning both All-Conference and All-American honors. Boston and Kelly were childhood golf partners and played many TJGT events together so caddying for him is a natural fit. “I always knew watching Kelly on the tour and through high school that he would be a great player. He went under the radar as a junior but his work ethic and desire to win always set him apart.” Dave Jones stated.
The TJGT also had two additional former players in the eight-man quarter final field, Jordan Spieth and Jordan Russell. Jones continues, “This is a testament of the vision and hard work of the TJGT staff of high school coaches and parents that have strived to provide the best competitive junior golf tour in Texas. Our alumni continue to set themselves apart whether it’s academic or golf All-Americans, USGA Junior & Amateur championships, as well as PGA/LPGA tour events. We will continue to work hard to inform and educate players and parents on all the collegiate scholarship opportunities across the country. We are proud to call Kelly, Boston, Blake Biddle, Jordan Russell and Jordan Spieth as several of our 3,300 collegiate alumni. A big TJGT congratulations goes out to Kelly for a job well done!”
