The TJGT has listened to the numerous college coaches recruiting the tour the past two years and along with the upcoming major changes to the AJGA Performance Based Entry System, the tour will adjust the age divisions and create a special qualifier series for entry into certain tournaments that could be affected by the new change in the AJGA PBE system.
The new AJGA PBE system will now eliminate tournament exemptions and move strictly to performance stars. The details of the new system are yet to be released, but the new requirement for a minimum of 40 boys and 12 girls in the field/division will be new AJGA criteria for any junior tour to award PBE for each individual tournament. As details become available on the new AJGA PBE system, rest assured we will inform you as soon as we obtain any new information.
The Age Divisions for the 2011-12 TJGT Season Are:
Boys 12-14
Boys 15-18
Girls 12-14
Girls 15-18
For the all Majors, Holiday Classic Series and Invitationals where the Golfweek rankings apply, each division will play the same yardages; the divisions will be ages 12-18. This maximizes the collegiate exposure for all players and allows the younger players to gain experience in a strong field.
The changes in age division and creating a qualifying system are the result of the facts:
• Recruiting has moved younger, therefore the sooner a freshman can get into the national ranking systems the better for exposure.
• College coaches have advised us to bring younger players into the older divisions to see how they react with the longer yardages and older players.
• The majority of 15 yr old boys are freshman therefore making them a “prospective student athlete” under NCAA guidelines. Ie. they can be recruited.
• Create a qualifier series for entry into four of the top invitational events to bring more opportunity for exposure to players in those fields.
Fall Invitational Qualifier Series Tournaments
• Champions in the Boys 15-18 division and Girls 12-18 Overall Combined Results will earn automatic exemptions in the following invitational & major events:
1. Traditions Fall Invitational @ Texas AM
2. Traditions Spring Break Invitational & Texas AM
3. TJGT Tour Championship
4. Four Seasons Invitational
5. **Top five places in the Boys 15-18 & Top three in Girls 12-18 will automatically qualify into the NEW Traditions Spring Break Invitational @ Texas AM**
6. Top five places in the following divisions will automatically qualify into all TJGT Majors:
Boys 15-18, Girls 15-18.
7. Top two places in the following divisions will automatically qualify into all TJGT Majors:
Boys 12-14, Girls 12-14
8. Top Five places in Boys & Girls 15-18 Divisions in all 2011-12 Invitationals receive an automatic exemption in to any “TCAT” Texas Collegiate Amateur Tour Event.
**An exemption/automatic qualifier position is defined as an invite to the tournament. All tournament fees are the responsibility of the invitees/player.**
** Exemption/automatic qualifier players MUST contact TJGT via email NLT 21 days prior to the invitational event to indicate they will enter/register for the tournament. Inside the 21 days your invitation goes to a space available status. No exceptions.**
