The TJGT Tour Championship was played at the Horseshoe Bay Resort on both the Ram Rock and Apple Rock Golf Courses February 13-14, 2010.
202 players from three countries and six states teed it up in this 36-hole Golfweek-ranked event.
Coaches from Wichita State, Mary Hardin Baylor, Southwestern saw the Boys 16-18 play 6,721 yards; the Boys 12-15 play 6,373 yards; and all Girls play 5,796 yards in cold and windy weather.
Saturday was cold and windy as the temperatures ranged from 28 to 56 with winds gusting around 25 mph. Both golf courses were in great shape considering the amount of rain the area has received. Round 1 was delayed an hour and half due to heavy frost and fog. Sunday was perfect weather for golf. Temperatures began in the Low 40’s and quickly warmed up in the mid 50’s. Sunny skies and only a slight breeze made for a great closing round.
As always it’s tough to beat the TJGT “Year in Review” Tour Championship Awards Show. For starters players and parents were treated to a extremely satisfying Mexican buffet with both beef and chicken fajitas with all the fixings capped off with an incredible tres leches cake for dessert.
Once the show started there was a video welcome by none other than Lance Ringler from Golfweek magazine. This video was shot in Las Vegas on the set of his show “Off Campus with Lance Ringler”. From there it kept getting better. There were video recaps of the year and tributes to both the parents and the players, both of which make the TJGT what it is. As each player was recognized they were called up to the stage and walked the red carpet to receive their incredible glass award with a base that lights it up. It was an amazing sight to see all of the awards lit up filling the tables spanning the length of the stage. Special shout out to Joseph Jones, Johnny Jones, and Hunter Glenn for their rendition of “Clubs on the Ground!” and their TJGT Video of the Year award.
