SPRING (BREAK) FEVER ON THE TJGT!

Sponsored in part by Nike Golf

The TJGT got off to a busy start on March 16th-17th which was the beginning of Spring Break for most kids. Four, that’s right four, events were played simultaneously across the state with close to 200 players ranging from 7-18 and from as far away as Puerto Rico, teeing it up in TJGT action.
Our first stop takes us to North Texas where the Trophy Club Junior Spring Swing was played at Trophy Club CC on the Hogan Course with the Boys 16-18 playing 6,992 yards; the Boys 12-15 playing 6,441 yards; and all Girls playing 5,598 yards in this 36-hole Golfweek-ranked event. Close to 100 players from places like Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kansas, Arkansas, and Texas teed it up in beautiful weather. Coaches from The University of North Texas and Costal Carolina were in attendance scouting the competition. Here’s how things shaped up after the dust cleared:

Event notes:
This was an outstanding event on a superb golf course. The greens as well as the course were immaculate and the weather was incredible.  What better way to spend the first two days of Spring Break?  Pace of play was great for the mini tour.  There were several first time players in the field and we sincerely hope that you will come play with us in future events.  Some of the highlights of the event include Jack Little making birdie on 5 out of 6 holes on his back nine on Tuesday.  All total, he recorded 6 birdies on his way to an even par round of 72.  Welcome to the Elite Mini Tour Cade Govender…Cade wins the Boys 8-9 year old division and fires an even par round of 72 on Monday.  Welcome back PJ Schmitz…PJ finishes second in the boys 8-9 year old division with a closing round of 81.  Jimmy Hebert fires a 40 on his back nine Tuesday to claim third place.  Hanna Liu had an incredible tournament…breaking 90 both days.  This is the first time all year that she has accomplished this feat in tournament play.  She is going to get better and better…Daniel Martinez continues to impress.  Martinez rode a very steady 75-78 to victory to claim yet another title on the Elite Mini Tour in the Boys 10-11 division.  Newcomer Clark McCollum finishes third in the ranked event for the Boys 10-11 year old division.  In the Boys 12-13 year old division, Andrew Liu’s very steady 79-77 claims the title over Johnny Jones and Dane Hankamer and Austen Christiansen. Dane and Austen finished T3 in the ranked event, but Dane ended the suspense early by making birdie on the first playoff hole.  The going was a little tough for the Girls 10-11 year old division but they managed to battle through it.  The course played at 5200 yds for these young ladies, but they managed it quite well.  Breanna Smith wins the event with solid rounds of 91-92.  Ann Parmerter claims second with the low round of 88 in her age division on Tuesday, while Sydney Roberts finishes third.
This was the largest non-invitational field that the Elite Mini Tour has had all year…thanks to all who competed, as well as parents and caddies.  We hope to see you all at future events.

Playing side-by-side with the Mini-Tour we also had the TJGT Spring Break Out
At Grey Rock Golf Course. The Boys 16-18 played 6,855 yards; the Boys 12-15 played 6,313 yards; and all Girls played 5,678 yards in this 36-hole nationally-ranked event.
The weather could not have been better with temperatures in the upper 70’s with a slight breeze.
