The UT Longhorn Invitational was played at the UT Golf Club at Steiner Ranch in Austin, Texas August 17th-18th 2009. This elite invitational field of 70 players from three countries (USA, Mexico, and Norway) played 36-holes in this Golfweek-ranked event with all boys 12-18 playing 6,814 yards and all girls 12-18 playing 5,854 yards. The weather both days was pretty much hot and sunny with a slight breeze with the wind being a bit stronger on day one and more cloud cover on day two. With the UT Golf Club being the home course and practice facility for both the men’s and women’s UT golf teams no one was surprised to UT Men’s Coach John Fields extensively throughout the event. Parents and players alike were also invited to sit in during lunch on day two as Coach Fields addressed the group in a very intimate setting and talked about things like his own personal experience as a parent, the legacy and legend of the UT golf team, and what it takes to play college golf. In addition to Coach Fields coaches from Dallas Baptist and St. Edwards were also at the event. This was a first-class event from start to finish and the staff at the UT Golf Club did a great job of making sure that the players and parents were accommodated in every way. On the course, although challenging, we still saw some great golf which concluded with a very exciting 5-hole playoff between Ryan Roseberry of Katy and Brenden Redfern of Austin for 2nd place in the Boys division with Roseberry winning with a birdie and both players playing the five holes a combined 3-under par.

The Stonebriar Junior Classic was played at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas August 17th-18th 2009.
The Boys 16-18 played 6,814 yards, the Boys 12-15 played 6,312 yards, and all Girls played 5,707 yards in this 36-hole nationally-ranked event.
The weather the first day was hot and sunny (We had a 1:30 shotgun!! ) and on the second day was cloudy and great weather to play golf.
It was a beautiful course that even had the TJGT staff wishing they were out there playing.
