2011 US AMATEUR CHAMPION KELLY KRAFT & NCAA MEDALIST JOHN PETERSON AT BARTON CREEK
December 5, 2011Once again the TJGT has done what only the TJGT can do. The TJGT has arranged for former players John Peterson, 2011 NCAA Men’s Medalist, and Kelly Kraft, 2011 US Amateur Champion, to be on site and available for the TJGT Q&A Evenings at the TJGT Barton Creek Holiday Classic December 28th-30th. Parents and players alike will be able to ask John and Kelly what it was like for them to play competitive junior golf, navigate the road to college golf, and recently winning two of the most prestigious amateur titles. It’s events like these that give you access to players and coaches that share based on their experience and success, not classroom theory, that make the TJGT the place to play for players wanting to play college golf.
KELLY KRAFT: 2011 US AM CHAMPION & 2008 TJGT ALUMNI
“The staff of the Texas Junior Golf Tour provided me exceptional leadership when I was a junior golfer looking to play at the next level. Coach Monzingo & Dave Jones passion to see me succeed was amazing. The impressive aspect of their mentorship is they always stayed in contact with me during my years at SMU. I would see them on the first tee of several of my collegiate tournaments checking up on their alumni and networking with all the coaches on behalf of their current members. Impressive is the only word...

Inside the tougher academic requirements for freshmen from NCAA.org
November 11, 2011
Changes to the academic requirements for incoming Division I student-athletes will require freshmen to meet a tougher academic standard to compete in the first year of enrollment at a Division I institution.
The changes, approved last month by the Division I Board of Directors, represent a philosophical shift in the way the NCAA examines academic credentials. The new philosophy will require student-athletes enrolling in August 2015 and later to meet a higher academic standard to compete in the first year. Student-athletes who meet the current initial eligibility standard will be eligible for aid and practice only. Read the full article posted on ncaa.org here.
