The Tyler Rose Junior Golf Festival was played May 30-31,2009 in Tyler, Texas at Eagles Bluff CC and the Peachtree Golf Club on the Oakhurst course. Close to 130 players from Arkansas, Texas, Mexico, Oklahoma teed it up in beautiful sunny weather in this 36-hole, Golfweek-ranked event.
The Boys 16-18 played 6,977 yards on Eagles Bluff, all girls played 5,577 yards at Eagles Bluff, and the boys 12-15 played 6,371 yards at Peachtree.
College coaches were in attendance and it was a great weekend of golf.
Although there was plenty of great golf the highlight of the weekend may very well have been the activities away from the golf course.
A very special thank you to UT Tyler and SporTyler for their sponsorship which included all the food all weekend.
Players and their families had tons of fun at the pool party held at the UT Tyler Patriot Center Athletic Complex and the TJGT staff and players had four ping pong tables going with great music from Disc Jockey while everyone enjoyed great food from Traditions restaurant.
Also, we had a great turn out for the college recruiting/college golf seminar Friday evening at Traditions restaurant.
Once again all the players recieved incredible gifts from Nike including the extremely popular pink shirts and all Mothers received a famous Tyler rose bush.

Event recap:
Special shout out to Kelsey Hainey, Houston, 2010 for making a hole in one on the par-3 #5.
Eagles Bluff was in great shape. The Head Pro, Mark Cote and his golf course staff was very accommodating to all of the players, spectators
and the TJGT staff. We are looking forward to hopefully playing more TJGT events at Eagles Bluff during the year.
Competition was like the weather…very heated!!! These young guys teed it up and got after it on a very good golf course. The front nine is relatively open, however the back nine tightens up and demands that you place your shots. Nicholas Robert had no problems golfing his ball around the course and led wire to wire after opening with an even par 72 and finishing with a 2-under par 70 to win the event by 6 strokes over ever steady Charley Graves. Charley battled through a wrist injury to post solid rounds of 75 and 73 and finish second by a stroke over Dylan Reynolds. Charley secured the second place trophy by virtue of his birdie-par-birdie-birdie finish. Dylan mounted a charge early by posting birdies on three out of four holes and shot 2 under on the front nine Sunday. For their efforts this weekend, Nicholas earns fully exempt status on the Junior All-Stars while Charley and Dylan each earn one JAS exemption. Rounding out the top 5 in this division were 4th place Diego Trevino after posting an even par second round, while Major Monzingo and Carson Scitern finish T5 with very steady playing. What a way to start the summer run for each of these young men…
The TJGT staff would like to thank Peach Tree Golf Club and Head Golf Professional Darrell Chase for the hospitality extended to players, staff, parents, and spectators. We look forward to coming back to this venue in the future.
