The TJGT Galleria Dallas Classic at Trophy Club was played December 19th-20th, 2011 at Trophy Club on the Whitworth Course. Players from Texas and Oklahoma teed it up with the Boys 15-18 playing 6,950 yards; the Boys 12-14 playing 6,291 yards; and all Girls 12-18 playing 5,304 yards in this 36-hole nationally-ranked event.
Round 1:
Round one was played in windy, cold and rainy conditions and it was definitely a test of character and perseverance fore the kids! For most of round one the field had to fight the rain that was off and on most of the day. Grant Davidson and Brandon Smith were the only 2 players in the field that was able to break 80! Davidson finished the day with an 78 giving him the lead by 2 in the boys 15-18 division and Brandon Smith fired of a 74 giving him a 4-shot lead in the boys 12-14 division.
For the girls, Haley Dambold and Maddie McCrary battled it out both post an 80 to tie for the lead of round one.
If the kids thought that round one was tough, round two proved to be even more of a test! With temperatures in the mid to low 40’s and the winds kicking up around 15-25 mph and the wind chill hanging around 36 it was a day of survival!
In the boys 12-14 division, Bandon Smith was able to hang on to his lead and fire of an 81 to give him 1st place. Zack Smith was also able to hold on and claim 2nd place with his 85 during rnd 2. George Gardner was able to make a run today and played 10 shot better than round one, his score of 81 in the 2nd round gave him a 3rd place finish!
In the Boys 15-18 division Will McDonald and Hunter Rawls both tied for first place. Rawls came back from being down 3 shots after rnd one and shot 81 to help claim a tie for first place. Rawls was able to claim the Championship because of Will McDonalds no show for the playoff.
Zander Lozano came back from 6 down and fired of the low round of the day with 79 to claim 3rd place.
Girls 12-14 division Binny Lee showed her consistency in tough tournament conditions by shooting 83,83 and giving her 1st place. Macy Holliday finished 2nd and Quincy Ballard placed 3rd.
In the Girls 15-18 Division Hayley Dambold was able to fight of Maddie McCrary by one shot to finish with a 76 and claim 1st place honors. Maddie had a great day in the cold wind finishing her tournament with a 77 giving 2nd place and Eji Kwon finished 3rd after her great round of 76.

The TJGT Missouri City Christmas Classic was played December 19th-20th, 2011 at the Sienna Plantation Golf Club in Missouri City, TX. The Boys 15-18 played 6,882 yards; the Boys 12-14 played 6,500 yards; and all Girls 12-18 played 5,705 yards in this 36-hole, nationally-ranked event. Players had to battle the wind in round one but had nice weather on day two.
Wow, John Rafael was just able to hold on to 1st place in the Boys 15-18 division as Matthew Rufca fired a 68 and Lonnie Smith added a 71 to chip away at his 1st round lead. John’s solid 74-74 was one stroke clear of the hard charging duo. Matthew was able to make birdie on the 1st hole of a playoff to leave Lonnie holding on to the 3rd place flag.
In the Boys 12-14 division, Marcus Lopez was able to use his hometown knowledge of the course to defeat his competition. His two-day total was strong enough to claim 1st place by 3-shots over Dustin Williamson of Katy and Collin Bryant of the Woodlands.
Emily Gilbreth was able to claim 1st place in the girls 15-18 division over Taylor Stockton by 3-shots. Local girl Kaycee Bankert was able to earn a 3rd place finish on her home course.
Annika Clark was able to outlast TJGT rookie Kaylee Arthur by 2-shots in the girls 12-14 division. Look for these to to do battle on the TJGT for many years to come.
