It was another great weekend of TGJT golf across the state with three events, including a team event being played. Great courses combined with beautiful weather along with the best junior golfers in the region make for some incredible golf.
First up we have the TJGT Tribute Team Championship played May 1st-2nd, 2010 at the Tribute Golf Club in the Colony just North of DFW airport. The course set up for some super low score and that’s exactly what we got.
On the boys side the duo of Major Monzingo and Henry Todd, who has verbally committed to play at Texas Tech, birdied the first playoff hole to the title from Cade Story and Will Zalatoris, who finished 2nd in last week’s AJGA Craig Ranch event.
The girls saw some great golf as well with the team of Sierra Sims and Maggie Neece claiming the top spot by three strokes. Sims is one of the top AJGA players winning a Junior All-Star Invitational along with the TJGT Traditions Invitational.
All Boys 12-18 played 6,610 yards and all Girls 12-18 played 5,452 yards in this 36-hole team event.

With highs around 85 both days it was just good Houston weather.
Greatwood Golf Club hosted a strong field of junior golfers from Texas and Louisiana this weekend. The players endured beautiful weather over the 2-day event.
In the Girls 12-15 division, Ali Cowan of Victoria TX cruised to victory over a couple of youngsters ready to make their mark in the Texas golf scene. 2015 grads, Jackie Geaccone 3rd and Brooke McDougald 2nd were no match for the seasoned Cowan who also claimed the girls overall title.
The Girls 16-18 division was claimed by Jinjutha “Pear” Noibanchong of Mandeville TX. Pear fired a second round 75 to narrowly defeat Kirby Kramer of Houston by 1 shot.
The Boys 12-15 division victor was Taylor Engle of Katy. His 2nd day 73 was enough to leap frog Austin Duhon and Stephen Chambers for the title. Taylor used an Eagle on the par 5 #6 as a springboard of momentum for his nearly flawless round.
Finally in the Boys 16-18 Scott Newell absolutely lit it up with a 2-day score of 138. His 2-under par rounds proved difficult to beat. Peter Thorseth and Wes Artac gave it a great try falling just short of that hot pace.
