The Red River Challenge is an annual stroke play tournament that encompasses an inner team competition between the Texas Jr. Golf Tour (TJGT) vs Oklahoma Jr Golf Tour (OJGT) The tournament brings together the best players of both tours and features a multi-state as well as international ranked field. Furthermore, the tournament is played on a collegiate & historic venue @ Dornick Hills, CC. Dornick Hills has hosted the Maxwell Collegiate Tournament for years and is the final resting place of the famous course designer Mr. Perry Maxwell.
The Red River Challenge has been ranked as one the highest Golfweek Ranked tournaments each year outside the AJGA. Dozens of players the past five years who have participated in the event have gone onto successful college golf careers.
The event field has seen a 95% collegiate scholarship success rate for seniors moving on the college. The event provides national & regional exposure for players to be recruited by universities across the country. Each year the tournament hosts a very popular banquet with a College Coach as the featured banquet speaker. Past Banquet Speakers have included: Coach Mike McGraw, Oklahoma State, Coach John Fields, University of Texas, Coach Lynn Monzingo, University of Oklahoma & Coach Jerry Hrnciar, Cameron University. The 2011 speaker will be the Executive Director of the GCCA (College Golf Coaches Assoc.) and NCAA Champion at OU, Greg Grost..
TJGT currently leads the team championship series 5 vs. 1.
This event draws over 120 families along with spectators and college coaches to Ardmore each year. Apx. 350 attendees enjoy the Ardmore hotels and hospitality the local community offers. Players & families from as far as Mexico to Arkansas, Kansas, Canada, England and Korea have participated in the annual event. Alumni of this event still continue to stop in Ardmore to eat at favorite restaurants and play Dornick Hills with great memories of this prestigious event. The tradition of coming to Dornick Hills and Ardmore make this event an annual “passage” within the large junior and high school golf community in Texas & Oklahoma.
