TEXAS JUNIOR GOLF TOUR/ iAlliance
DOMINION GAS 2008/09 ELITE SERIES
(INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENTS)
Purpose
The purpose of the elite series is to create invitational tournaments to gain maximum exposure to college coaches during the TJGT season as well as maximize AJGA PBE opportunities and strong fields for Golfweek Rankings exposure at top rated venues. Unlike summer play, during the fall/winter/spring months collegiate coaches are primarily focused on their own teams and have limited opportunities to recruit prospects due to NCAA regulations. Therefore, since there are limited opportunities for exposure outside the summer AJGA season, the TJGT/iAlliance has developed tournaments that will combine elite fields that draw collegiate coaches to the events. The TJGT staff and Board of Directors are networked with many collegiate coaches and have experience with their own children playing collegiate golf, recruiting and AJGA. Therefore, the 2008/09 season will see an expanded elite series to maximize the exposure for TJGT members. Simply put: collegiate opportunities open up for players as a result of good play in the strongest fields and the networking to collegiate coaches on behalf of the players. One phone call by a tour staff member to a college coach can eliminate the need to send dozens of resumes, emails or swing videos. These Invitationals will be given special attention/emphasis to provide the most competitive strength of field and tournament satisfaction. As parents of junior golfers, we understand how to navigate many aspects of elite junior golf and will make every effort to maximize the exposure of each junior to bring added value to the TJGT/iAlliance events. TJGT understands parents have limited budgets and these events help maximize every dollar spent for collegiate exposure outside the AJGA. Players will receive additional tournament gifts to give added value to your overall experience.
Finally, the 2008/09 TJGT tournament staff is composed of top High School golf coaches in the region. TJGT is working to promote High School events and educate high school coaches & parents on the ever changing landscape of Jr. Golf. We recognize the importance of high school team play and are working alongside these coaches to respect their schedules but also provide more elite opportunities for national exposure to college coaches, AJGA Performance Based Entry and Golfweek Rankings. Coach Lynn Monzingo, TJGT VP is the contact for the High School Coaches. Cell Phone: 214-493-6329

Players invited will receive either an email or phone call for their invitation. Players/parents are to RSVP ASAP if accepting the invitation. This will allow TJGT to contact players who are on the waiting list. If a player desires to play and has not been contacted within 20 calendar days of the event, he/she should email Mr. Dave Jones, TJGT President at . Holiday or Joint iAlliance Events: The order of entry will start first with current iAlliance Exemption holders. Secondly, several slots will be held in reserve for international players from Mexico, Europe and South America. Third, all TJGT members will be free to register via the website thru open registration as of May 19th, 2008. For example: Holiday Classic @ Barton Creek: TJGT will reserve designated slots for iAlliance exemption holders and International players at this event but the TJGT webmaster will open the appropriate slots to TJGT members for open registration starting May 19th, 2008. These slots are on a first come basis. Therefore please do not wait. The 2007 Barton Creek event had a 50 player waiting list.
Invitational Tournament Registration
All invited players must RSVP ASAP to TJGT before they are allowed to online register for the invitational. TJGT will then open up online registration after the RSVP. RSVP either by email or phone to Mr. Jones or Coach Monzingo. Mr. Jones: Cell: 817-707-8460 Coach Monzingo: Cell: 214-493-6329
Invitational Awards: Awards will be given to the Top Five Boys & Girls regardless of age.
If there are a sufficient number of Jr. All Star Players (12-15) in the overall field, then an award for the medalist within these designated players will be given. The number of players to warrant this award will be a minimum of five players in the field. Younger players are also eligible for all AJGA PBE as well as any Jr. All Star AJGA PBE awarded to the tournament. The invitationals are just like AJGA Open events where there is an open age division. Jr. All Star Players (Ages 12-15) who participate in invitationals do not make up the majority of the field. However, TJGT will recognize the top Jr. All Star performers at each invitational. (ONE BOY & ONE GIRL)
Furthermore, AJGA Jr. All-Star exemptions as well as Open Exemptions apply to younger players participating in invitationals. For example, if a 12-15 player finishes 10th in the overall tournament, but was the medalist of all the 12-15 players, that junior would be awarded the AJGA Jr. All star exemption as well as the AJGA open exemptions according to his place of finish.
PULL CARTS: THERE ARE NO PULL CARTS ALLOWED AT DESIGNATED INVITATIONALS. PULL CARTS ARE ALLOWED AT HOLIDAY EVENTS IF THE HOST VENUE PERMITS.
Sudden Death Playoffs will occur for the overall Top Five Places. If a playoff is needed for any Jr. All Star PBE for any 12-15 player in the field, then a sudden death playoff will be conducted.
If AJGA PBE for the 12-15 medalist is not in question, then a scorecard playoff will be conducted for the award only starting from the lowest handicap hole. If a player must leave before the playoff, the player will sacrifice the sudden death playoff and be awarded the lower place automatically
