Invitational Entry Criteria

2009-10 Season Invitational Overview & Order of Entry Criteria

Purpose

The purpose of the elite series is to create invitational tournaments to gain maximum exposure to college coaches during the TJGT season as well as maximize AJGA PBE opportunities and strong fields for Golfweek Rankings exposure at collegiate or PGA Tour venues.  . Unlike summer play, during the fall/winter/spring months collegiate coaches are primarily focused on their own teams and have limited opportunities to recruit prospects due to NCAA regulations. Therefore, since there are limited opportunities for exposure outside the summer season, the TJGT/iAlliance has developed tournaments that will combine elite fields that draw collegiate coaches to the events. The TJGT staff and Board of Directors are networked with many collegiate coaches and have experience with their own children playing collegiate golf and the recruiting process.  Therefore, the 2009/10 season will see an expanded elite series to maximize the exposure for TJGT members. Simply put: collegiate opportunities open up for players as a result of good play in strong fields as well as networking to collegiate coaches on behalf of the players. This why TJGT conducts the invitationals on collegiate & PGA Tour venues to strengthen the players resume.  Furthermore, one phone call by a tour staff member to a college coach can eliminate the need to send dozens of resumes, emails or swing videos. These tournaments will be given special attention/emphasis to provide the most competitive strength of field and tournament satisfaction. As parents of junior golfers, we understand how to navigate many aspects of elite junior golf and will make every effort to maximize the exposure of each player to bring added value to the events. TJGT understands parents have limited budgets and these events help maximize every dollar spent for collegiate exposure. Players will receive additional tournament gifts to bring added value to your overall experience. Players lunches are always included as well as any banquet meal provided.  Parents & spectators are charged a nominal fee to cover their food costs at the banquets.

Finally, the TJGT tournament staff is composed of top High School golf coaches in the region. TJGT is working to promote High School events and educate high school coaches & parents on the ever changing landscape of Jr. Golf. We recognize the importance of high school team play and are working alongside these coaches to respect their schedules but also provide more elite opportunities for national exposure to college coaches, AJGA Performance Based Entry and Golfweek Rankings. You will notice below an special emphasis to support top high school players in all levels of High School Golf.  Coach Lynn Monzingo, TJGT VP is the contact for the High School Coaches.  Cell Phone: 214-493-6329

Invitational Tournament Registration

All invited players must RSVP ASAP to TJGT before they are allowed to online register for the invitational.  TJGT will then open up online registration after the RSVP.  RSVP either by email or phone to Mr. Jones or Coach Monzingo.  Mr. Jones: Cell: 817-707-8460 Coach Monzingo: Cell: 214-493-6329

Invitational Awards: Awards will be given to the Top Five Boys & Girls regardless of age. The invitationals are just like AJGA Open events where there is an open age division.12-18.  Players ages 12-15 will play the same yardages and compete for the same awards. There is only one age division unless an age group is specifically split to a separate venue such as Tyler. Players (Ages 12-15) who participate in invitationals do not make up the majority of the field. However, AJGA usually recognizes the top younger boy with Jr. All star series exemptions.

Sudden Death Playoffs will occur for the overall Top Five Places. If a playoff is needed for any Jr. All Star PBE for any 12-15 player in the field, then a sudden death playoff will be conducted.

If AJGA PBE for the 12-15 medalist is not in question, then a scorecard playoff will be conducted for the award only starting from the lowest handicap hole.  If a player must leave before the playoff, the player will sacrifice the sudden death playoff and be awarded the lower place automatically
