Invitational/Major Entry Criteria
TJGT Invitational /Major Overview & Order of Entry Criteria
Purpose
The purpose of the major & invitational series is to create tournaments to gain maximum exposure to college coaches, AJGA PBE opportunities, and strong fields for Golfweek Rankings and resume building opportunites for collegiate exposure @ collegiate and PGA Tour venues. The 2010-11 season Major & Invitational series has been simplified to allow more members to participate. It is imperative that the member be pro-active and email/contact TJGT if they want to play. If you cannot online register, contact TJGT and inform us you fall into the Major criteria and request online registration to be opened.
MAJORS: Majors will carry more weight in season points, AJGA PBE, Golfweek rankings as well as exposure on collegiate/PGA Tour Venues. Majors are designated in tournament name and by ** on the schedule. Players who fall into the below criteria AUTOMATICALLY QUALIFY. GENERAL INFORMATION: These events are always one division such as an AJGA: Boys 12-18, Girls 12-18 and yardages are played very close to collegiate distances to allow college coaches to make good evaluations of players. TJGT reviews resumes via the following three sources: Jr. Golf Scoreboard, Highschoolgolfscoreboard.com, Golfweek.com rankings. Do not email resumes. These events are also awarded greater AJGA PBE, Golfweek rankings & amateur exemptions due to the higher standard of play and strength of field. Players will always receive additional tee gifts as well as lunch and many times a banquet/cookout. TJGT also conducts many “College Bound Membership” live Q & A sessions with college coaches attending or provides a seminar on various topics such as AJGA, recruiting, tournament planning, academic strategy etc. Players lunches are included as well as any banquet meal. Invitational Awards: Awards will be given to the Top Five Boys & Girls regardless of age. The invitationals are just like AJGA Open events where there is an open age division.12-18. Players ages 12-15 will play the same yardages and compete for the same awards. There is only one age division unless an age group is specifically split to a separate venue . (Ages 12-15) who participate in invitationals do not make up the majority of the field. However, AJGA usually recognizes the top younger boy with Jr. All star series exemptions.
Sudden Death Playoffs will occur for the overall Top Five Places. If a playoff is needed for any Jr. All Star PBE for any 12-15 players in the field, then a sudden death playoff will be conducted.
If AJGA PBE for the 12-15 medalist is not in question, then a scorecard playoff will be conducted for the award only starting from the lowest handicap hole. If a player must leave before the playoff, the player will sacrifice the sudden death playoff and be awarded the lower place automatically
