Click Here for the points table
How Do the Invitational Age Groups Work?
The TJGT invitationals are open tournaments for ages 12-18. There are no divisions within invitationals for Golfweek ranking purposes. See invitational/major criteria.
Are there separate tournament venues for the 12-15 division?
Yes, there will be several separate dedicated tournaments at the Holiday Classics, Tour Championship and Tyler Invitational just for the 12-15 age division with multiple AJGA Jr. All-Star exemptions. This maximizes the strength of field and AJGA Jr. All Star Exemptions. These are venues that TJGT has two or more courses to allow the younger age divisions to receive more exposure to AJGA status.
In a Normal TJGT Tournament, does the 12-15 age division play With the Older Divisions?
Yes, but they play at different yardages for their skill level, usually between 6000-6400 yds.
Do the Girls Play Separate Yardages in Invitationals?
No, because the AJGA awards performance based entry to girls age 12-18. This is why they play the same yardages. TJGT will present awards in each division in any non-invitational tournament as well as points for All-Tour Teams & Player of the Year awards. Therefore, the younger girls (12-15) playing the same yardages will always have the opportunity to win an AJGA exemption or Performance star if the have the lowest score overall. For example, a younger girl shoots the lowest overall score to win her 12-15 division and her total score is the lowest of the 16-18 division, she would receive the AJGA Open Exemption for Girls 12-18 and the champion award for Girls 12-15. The lowest three scores within the Girls 16-18 division will receive awards as well but the champion might not earn the AJGA exemption because her score was not the overall lowest of all the girls. This policy is generated as a result of the AJGA PBE award.
If I Am a Girl in the 12-15 Age Divison, Can I Still Earn Ajga Jr. All-Star Status?
Yes, the winner of the 12-15 age division can win a Jr. All-Star exemption as well as an open AJGA exemption if they were to win the overall tournament with the best score since all girls are playing the same yardages. This depends on the AJGA PBE award for the individual tournament. All AJGA PBE awards are found on the individual tournament info page.
What Yardages Do the Girls Play?
Normal TJGT tournaments can expect to play apx. 5700-5900 yds depending on course/weather conditions. Invitational yardages for all girls can expect to play at collegiate distances at 6000-6300 yds. Each course has their own color of tees. Therefore, it is important to play practice rounds at these yardages and not a specific color or tees. The tee color that corresponds to these yardages is the tee marker that should be played. Practice round yardages are not exact and TJGT always reserves the right to adjust the course yardage due to weather conditions and pace of play considerations. TJGT favors shortening the par 3 holes for pace of play and making the par 5 holes “true” par 5’s to avoid back-ups on the tee box.
If I Am a 12-15 Girl, My Scores Will Be Higher if I Have to Play the Same Yardages As the Older Girls apx. 5700 Yds.
Yes & no, depending on the course this could be true. However, the younger girls have the opportunity to win AJGA open exemptions & Jr. All-Star exemptions and prepare for TJGT invitationals as well as college coach exposure.
Why Does Tjgt Do This to the Girls?
To maximize the national exposure earlier for girls to excel on TJGT, AJGA, and college coach exposure.
Are There Separate Awards for the Girls Age Divisions?
Yes, TJGT distributes awards within their respective division for the top three places.
Does Tjgt Play All the Boys at the Same Yardages?
No, boys 16-18 play apx. 6800-7000 yds & boys 12-15 play apx. 6000-6400 yds at normal TJGT tournaments. TJGT staff will normally shorten par 3’s for pace of play and make par 5’s “true par five” holes where it takes three shots to reach the green.
What Are the Yardages at Tjgt Invitationals for Boys?
The yardages are set as close to college distances as possible. This usually equates to apx. 6800-7200 yds, depending on weather/course conditions. Therefore, it is important to play practice rounds at these yardages and not a specific color or tees. The tee color that corresponds to these yardages is the tee marker that should be played. Practice round yardages are not exact and TJGT always reserves the right to adjust the course yardage due to weather conditions, weather forecast predictions, local course input/limitations and pace of play considerations
Are There Separate Awards for Each Division for Boys?
Yes, TJGT gives awards for the respective division for the top three places.
What yardages can I expect on the TJGT?

Boys 12-15: 6200-6400 yds (Target: 6300 yards)
Boys 16-18: 6600-7100 yds (Target: 6800 yards)

10-11: Apx. 5000-5500 yds or the minimum rated USGA tee boxes usually the red (women or senior tee boxes).
12/13: Apx. 5500-5800 yds or the red tee (women’s/senior/white tee boxes)
What is the purpose of these yardages? TJGT elite mini-tour events will be nationally ranked by Jr. Golf Scoreboard. There are certain yardage and number of player requirements to meet at ranked events.
What Tee Markers Do These Yardages Represent?
All courses have different color coding for distances. Important to play the distances listed above and READ the INFO SECTION on the individual tournament page.
Why do all girls play the same yardages?
The AJGA awards exemptions to girls in one category: 12-18.
What is different at an invitational?
There is only one age division like an AJGA open event: 12-18 for both girls and boys.
What age divisions are played at an invitational?
Only 12-18. Per the invitational criteria, juniors & seniors are give priority to gain maximum collegiate coach exposure. Also, awards are given to the top finishers in the tournament. Usually, top 5 places for boys, top 3 places for girls. The AJGA Performance Based Entry (Performance Stars & Exemptions) goes much deeper into the field.

How Do I Know If Can Play As A 12/13 On The TJGT?
The standards for the 12-13 division are primarily for pace of play. If a player can carry his own bag without caddie, normally score below 92 or better from yardages between 6000-6400 yds then the player is generally ready to play the TJGT. TJGT staff reserves the right to inform any 12-13 player based on tournament performance whether they will be restricted to the Elite Mini-Tour.

PULL CARTS POLICY
TJGT’s policy is to mirror the AJGA policy on pull carts.

Medical Condition: Any player, in any age division, may use a pull cart due to a valid medical condition provided the host venue allows the pull cart.
Elite Mini-Tour: Pull carts are allowed for all age divisions providing the host venue allows pull carts. Caddies are allowed in all age divisions and may use pull carts.
TJGT Staff emphasizes safety when a player is being shuttled and pulling a pull cart. It is recommended to “fold up” the pull cart and place in the shuttle to prevent potential injury.
TJGT will not incur liability or responsibility for the damage to any pull cart or player as a result of pulling a pull cart when being shuttled.

Cut Policy Scoring Requirements: All Boys: 94 or better, All Girls: 96 or better. Any player cut will only be cut for that tournament only. The player will have the opportunity to play in another tournament. TJGT realizes players have "bad scoring days" and allows a player to participate in future tournaments. TJGT Staff reserves the right to inform a player he/she is not ready for TJGT competition and restrict any future tournaments.
Can the Cut Policy Be Waived?
Yes, the TJGT tournament director has the authority to waive the cut policy if he/she believes pace of play standards are being met. It is rare TJGT invokes the cut policy. Usually only for slow play.
What Are the Pace of Play Standards?
A player has 45 seconds to hit a shot once arriving at his ball initially. This means having a good idea of yardage and shot selection before he/she arrives.
Pace of Play: The TJGT tournament committee will set the pace of play to expected rounds equal to or less than but not exceeding 4 hours and 30 minutes, 15 minute maximum per hole. If the tournament committee warns a group for being out of position, the group has no more than three holes to resume proper position. If the out of position and the situation persists, a stroke penalty may be incurred for failure to reach proper position. Gross negligence of the pace of play may result in a disqualification. The TJGT tournament committee will, at its discretion, take into account any time-altering factors such as host course problems, weather conditions and any unforeseeable time obstacles. The tournament committee consists of the tournament director, TJGT VP or President if present, any TJGT Board of Director, or host venue Head Professional if so designated by tournament director.
